Investigating the link between the theory of consumer purchase intention and the consumers' spending capacity: a study on the tourism sector of Bangladesh.
Abstract
This study examines the relationship between consumer purchase intention and spending capacity in Bangladesh’s domestic tourism sector. Data were collected from 330 domestic tourists using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through several statistical methods, including factor analysis, OLS, and GLM regression.
The findings show that destination preference, destination satisfaction, purchasing power, and previous visit experience significantly affect tourists’ total expenditure. Tourists with higher education, older age, and higher income also tend to spend more on trips. The study suggests that improving tourism infrastructure, destination quality, facilities, and marketing strategies could help increase domestic tourist spending. Overall, the research connects consumer behavioral factors with economic spending behavior in Bangladesh’s emerging tourism market.
